Unsere Vorschulkinder zu Besuch beim Roten Kreuz

A special experience awaited our preschool children this month when they visited the Austrian Red Cross. With great curiosity and enthusiasm, the children were able to learn their first age-appropriate basic knowledge of first aid. They were taught in a playful way how to help in emergency situations, why it is important to get help and how emergency services support people.

A special highlight was the tour of the ambulance. The children were able to explore the inside of the vehicle, get to know various pieces of equipment and ask lots of interesting questions. Some of them also lost their fear of rescue missions and developed a better understanding of the important work of paramedics.

Joint May devotion in the kindergarten

In May, we celebrated a lovingly designed May devotion together with the children. In a calm and solemn atmosphere, the focus was on Mary, the Mother of God. Through prayers, songs and child-oriented impulses, the children were able to experience how faith and community find their place in everyday life.

It was especially nice that the children were allowed to bring flowers from home. Full of joy and pride, they placed them on the May altar at the end of the celebration, making it colorful and lively. This created a visible sign of gratitude to the Blessed Mother.

Congratulations to our successful runners!

Maribel and Natalie from Stella-Gymnasium won the DC Tower Run. 1. and 2nd place in their age group. We would like to congratulate both athletes on this great success.

Fundraising campaign for Mary’s Meals

As the Mary’s Meals project is very close to our hearts, the second classes of Stella Primary School have come up with a particularly nice campaign to support this initiative.

For the spring festival, the children created a lovingly decorated flower wall in front of which parents and guests could have their photo taken. As a small thank you for the souvenir photo, visitors were invited to make a donation for Mary’s Meals in the donation box provided.

An impressive sum was raised. This amount can be used to finance a daily lunch for 34 children in poorer countries for a whole year. A big thank you to everyone who contributed with their donation!

Strengthening community in Maria Enzersdorf – The 3A and 3B personal development weeks

In May, 3A and 3B each spent a personal development week in Maria Enzersdorf on different dates. Housed in the Franciscan monastery, the pupils experienced a variety of days that focused on community, personal development and shared experiences.

Sporting challenges such as Jumpin Warrior, climbing and an athletics Olympics were on the agenda, as were exciting excursions to Liechtenstein Castle, the Hinterbrühl lake cave and an escape room. The 3A also visited the Romantiker cemetery and the former grave of Clemens Maria Hofbauer, which gave the week a special spiritual and historical dimension.

A particular highlight of both weeks was cooking together. The pupils prepared their own meals with great dedication, helped set the table and tidy up and experienced how wonderful community can be in everyday life. These hours together in the kitchen contributed significantly to the classes growing together.

Spiritual impulses through Holy Masses, prayer times and reflections as well as workshops on temperaments, strengths and weaknesses encouraged personal reflection. Creative activities, games and movie evenings also provided many wonderful moments together.

Both personal development weeks were a valuable experience for the pupils and strengthened the class community in the long term.

Musical accompaniment to the First Communion in Salzburg

At May 9 and 10 class 4A spent a special weekend in Salzburg. A large number of the pupils volunteered their free time to play music for the First Communion celebration of the children from Stella Primary School.

Together with Mr. Volochshuk and Ms. Kitz, the group travelled to Salzburg by train on Saturday. There, the students were given an interesting tour of the city by Mr. Haas, whose grandchildren attend Stella School, and gained fascinating insights into the city and its history.

After dinner together, the boys spent the night in the Stella elementary school, while the girls were warmly welcomed by the Haas family.

The highlight of the weekend was the solemn First Communion on Sunday in the Maria Plain pilgrimage church. With their singing and music, the pupils contributed to making the festive service dignified and solemn.

The participants will remember the weekend not only for their musical contribution, but also for the many wonderful encounters and the warm fellowship.

Outdoor Days Gesäuse (4A, 4B)

From May 18-21, the 4A and 4B made the Gesäuse unsafe. The mixture of community, sport and untouched nature went straight to the heart and made them forget all the aches and pains that, as we all know, cannot be avoided. No pain, no gain! Cheers!

Scenery workshop for the musical

May was all about the musical performance in the craft lessons. At the beginning there was just an idea and the doubt as to whether a large backdrop wall could be realized in the short time available. Thanks to Ingrid K. and the elementary school, we got huge walls on rolls, polystyrene and cardboard. The pupils from 2a and 2b began to cut the polystyrene and paint it with acrylic paints. Over the next few weeks, they worked hard to create bricks, shelves, a fireplace, pictures, signs and frames. At the same time, a small park landscape and a roof with chimneys were created. Without the help of other classes, however, the project would not have been completed in time. Fortunately, classes 3a, 4a and 1b did not have to be persuaded for long. Patrick only wanted Nina, Annamaria, Erik, Tobias, Teresa and Patrick to be mentioned by name for their help in 4b.

At the same time, 7A created another wall for the bedroom in their free periods under the direction of Lilli Kunhardt. But more props were needed for the colorful dragon scene and this is where Julia Galimova’s 1st graders came into play. The creative solution of Myles (1b), who devised a multi-tiered cake (with a mechanism for the slapstick fall scene) at home, deserves special mention here. At the end, class 4a took on the challenge of dragging the set pieces down the stairs to the stage in one piece.

Building the backdrop was a new experience for both the pupils and myself. It was therefore all the more pleasing that the pupils were so highly motivated. The work involved not only setting up the backdrops, but also cleaning the workroom of countless polystyrene crumbs at the end of each double lesson. (Prof. Deininger)

Career orientation in 7A

On May 7, we, 7A, had the opportunity to dedicate a morning to the topic of “career orientation” with career coach Verena Lauffs from Munich. We were able to gain very valuable experience and insights. Using examples of other young people who had already asked themselves the question about their career, we were able to identify our own strengths and determine the values that are most important to us. At the end of this reflection, a mutual “career gifting” began; everyone was able to individually present their own strengths, values and ideas, and then receive advice from their classmates and Ms. Lauffs regarding a future career choice. It was a very inspiring experience for us, which definitely helped us to think about our future.

Behind the scenes at the Volksoper

On Thursday, May 21, class 7A visited the Vienna Volksoper together with Ms. Comisso and Ms. Kitz. During an exciting backstage tour, the pupils were given an exclusive insight into the world of musical theater.

The tour began in the foyer and continued in front of the stage and the orchestra pit. We were then able to see the stage, the backstage, the lower stage and the make-up area. It was particularly impressive to see that the stage was being set up for a rehearsal of the operetta “Die Csárdásfürstin”.

The guided tour by a young intern was extremely informative and offered many interesting insights into the work behind the scenes. We rounded off the successful educational tour with an ice cream on the way back.

Book donations for the school library welcome

The newly equipped library has been available to our school for more than a month now. The two modern rooms and shelves offer optimal conditions for promoting the culture of reading and learning at our school.

We are happy to receive book donations from the school community to further expand our stock. Books in good condition for the upper school are particularly welcome, for example novels or non-fiction books from all subject areas.

Your support will help to further enrich our school library and provide our pupils with a diverse selection of reading material. We thank you in advance for every donation!
