Kindergarten:
Opening of new group
We are delighted to announce that we have opened a new group in our kindergarten. With great care and attention to detail, a beautiful room has been created that offers the children a sense of security, stimulation and space to develop.
The first children have already started settling in. We take a particularly careful and individual approach to this sensitive phase so that each child can settle in at their own pace. It is wonderful to see how the new children gradually gain confidence and become part of our community.
We are grateful for this expansion of our kindergarten and look forward to filling the new group with life, laughter and lots of shared experiences.

A trip to the moon
This month, the children in the moon group have been working intensively on the origins of their group name and have immersed themselves in the fascinating world of the moon. Together, they explored what the moon looks like, what special features it has and why it has always been so exciting for us humans. A particular highlight was the amazement at the moon landing, which was brought closer to the children in a vivid way.
The tablet was also used specifically for this journey of discovery. This made it possible to show age-appropriate images and short sequences that aroused the children’s interest and brought the topic to life. The conscious and pedagogically supervised use of digital media is an important part of educational work and helps children to learn how to use media responsibly.

Primary School
In April, we enjoyed the spring-like weather to the full and moved many of our breaks and activities outside. Whether it was doing gymnastics in the Donaupark and on the Danube Island or sanding wood in craft lessons.

In addition, we explored the dandelions in the meadow in front of the school in our science lessons. We also had good weather for our excursion to the active playground on the topic of “Compost and Co.”, where the children built a cress house and learned interesting facts about earthworms, snails and creepy-crawlies.

The 2nd graders are currently presenting their favorite stories as part of book presentations. In addition to a short reading passage, the pupils also bring along a suitable object. This ensures that the many presentations will be remembered for a long time to come.

Secondary School
Out and about in the realm of fish, reptiles and birds
During a visit to the Haus des Meeres, our 1st grade AHS was able to deepen their knowledge of vertebrates directly on site. The pupils recognized many animal groups such as fish, reptiles and birds from their lessons and observed their habitats and adaptations with great interest. The descriptive tour in particular made it clear how diverse and fascinating the world of vertebrates is. The material already covered in class was brought to life and made tangible. The excursion was an educational and entertaining experience for everyone.

Excursion to the theater museum
On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the 1st grade and 2A went to the Theatermuseum at Lobkowitzplatz in the 1st district.
There the groups split up: The 1st classes dealt with fairy tales and were able to invent and create their own stories. Class 2A immersed themselves in the world of the Greek gods. We talked about the tasks and characteristics of the individual gods and also thought about which god or goddess we would like to be ourselves. We then worked in groups and acted out little scenes about the different gods.
A special highlight for everyone was the large slide in the museum, which led directly into a large hall. Sebastian K. from 2A said that it was very exciting and that he found the slide particularly amusing. Raimund K. from 1A said that he had a lot of fun on the big slide and also writing fairy tales. Maria G. from 1A described the excursion as very interesting and impressive, and Helena Z. said that she liked it so much that she would like to go again.
After four exciting hours, we headed back to school, where we rounded off the excursion with an ice cream on the sunny terrace.

Raffle for a good cause
At Leadership Day, the 2A organized a raffle for a good cause. A total of 650.52 euros was raised through the sale of raffle tickets and the support of many pupils.
This money was handed over personally during a visit by Missio Austria to the 1st district and will benefit Christian girls and women in Pakistan who are often ostracized due to blasphemy accusations and need protection. The class also received a presentation about their difficult situation and a guided tour of the headquarters and the chapel, which became known to many people during the Corona period through live-streamed Holy Masses.
In a personal letter of thanks, Missio emphasized how important this help is: “The donation not only provides concrete support, but also courage and hope – and shows the people affected that they are not alone.

Religious education in 3A – Encounters that move people
As part of our current teaching topic “The Church”, 3A had two particularly enriching experiences over the past few weeks.
On Wednesday, 22 April, we visited Missio and gained an impressive insight into the diverse projects of this organization, which is committed to helping people in a wide variety of life situations around the world. The vivid reports made it clear what charity in practice can look like and what impact joint commitment can have. A special highlight was the subsequent participation in the Holy Mass in the Missio Chapel, where we were warmly welcomed by Fr. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the entire Missio team for this successful and inspiring morning.
A week later, on Wednesday, April 29, we welcomed special guests to our religious education class. As part of our study of the seven sacraments, this time the focus was on marriage. The Guggi couple gave us an insight into their life together in a personal and authentic testimony. They spoke openly about both joyful and challenging times and showed the important role that faith and a living relationship with God can play in their life together.
These encounters have complemented our lessons in a valuable way and opened up new perspectives for us. They show how lively and true-to-life religious education can be – especially in dialog with committed people outside the classroom.

Creative design – new works

Excursion to the Upper Belvedere with class 4B
On 10.4.2026, class 4B visited the Upper Belvedere with their class teacher Prof. Farmer, Prof. Deininger (KuG) and student Ms. Weger. Despite the bad weather, there was a large crowd at the exhibition and the class endured the wait in the wet and cold without grumbling. In addition to the impressive architecture, the students were able to admire famous paintings by Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele and other artists. One highlight was the commemorative plaque of the State Treaty on the floor of the Marble Hall.

A day at the University of Vienna-5A
As part of their Russian lessons, the entire 5th grade of the grammar school visited the open day at the University of Vienna. There, the pupils were given exciting insights into the German Studies Library, explored the university’s largest lecture hall and found out about the numerous fields of study at various stations. The atmosphere in the main building of the University of Vienna and the diversity of the departments presented made the visit particularly impressive.
The excursion then took the class to the university campus and the Institute for Slavic Studies. While the Spanish-learning part of our class took part in a Russian workshop, the Russian-learning part learned about the connection between the Cyrillic and Greek alphabets. Afterwards, everyone could choose between a short visit to a lecture, a Cyrillic workshop and a Polish workshop. This was followed by a singing language acquisition course in which individual groups learned different songs and sang together. Finally, there were role model presentations. Our Russian group also introduced themselves during these presentations and talked about their Russian lessons.
The excursion was a varied and enriching experience that gave the students a first impression of university life and further deepened their interest in linguistic and cultural topics.

Among the best in Austria: A special success at the Theolympics
As part of the Leader in Me lessons, our 7th and 5th graders took part in Theolympia, an Austria-wide competition on religious and ethical issues, for the first time this year.
This year’s topic was: “Gratitude – virtue or tactic?“
Our students looked at this topic in depth and wrote independent essays on the subject.
We are particularly pleased that Naomi from class 5A is one of the ten best finalists in Austria. She will receive her award at a ceremony in the Minoritensaal in Graz on May 28, 2026.
We congratulate Naomi on this great success!

Our top finishers in the “Kangaroo of Mathematics” competition
This year, all classes at the grammar school took part in the “Kangaroo of Mathematics” competition. All pupils had the opportunity to put their puzzle-solving skills to the test in various mathematical puzzles. The top three, Agnes (3A), Jakob (4A) and Samuel (2B), were awarded a certificate and received a book voucher in recognition of their achievements.
