Preparation for school

Once a week, we hold a “school day light” for all children in their final year of kindergarten. Two after-school teachers take over the group in the morning and move into a classroom at our school together with the children. There, they work on topics related to starting school in a project-oriented manner – supplemented by an additional lesson in English. In this way, the children gain confidence, strengthen their independence and experience everyday school life in a protected environment.

At the last event, our colleagues organized a variety of stations where a wide range of senses were addressed.

The children were able to experiment, observe, feel and think – all in the spirit of holistic learning. It was particularly pleasing that parents were also allowed to accompany the stations.

Onset of winter in the kindergarten

The recent snowfall has once again transformed our garden into a small winter wonderland. While we adults now have mixed feelings about the snow, the children enjoy it all the more – with shining eyes, red cheeks and unbroken enthusiasm.

This time, our children were particularly creative: with a lot of team spirit and imagination, they created a very special “Stella snowman”. Designed with loving attention to detail, it quickly became the focal point of our garden and a visible sign of how much fun working together can bring.

Snowmen, fresh snow and postal adventures

The children made snowmen out of old jam jars as the final winter work in their textile craft lessons.

We took advantage of all the fresh snow for a trip to the Donaupark – a great experience for our class community.

Another highlight was the visit to the Austrian Post mail distribution center. The children were particularly enthusiastic about the train ride through the logistics center and stamping their own postcards.

Carnival party for 1B – Little leaders make it big!

On Shrove Tuesday, February 17, the 1B students showed what they have already learned in the Leader in Me program: being independent, working together and taking responsibility.

The children planned their carnival party all by themselves. They created a buffet and a drinks list – and everyone contributed something. Balloons and garlands were hung up with great joy and a colorful carnival picture was created for the blackboard. The students also prepared the program with games and music themselves.

The teacher only had to make sure that everything ran smoothly and was tidied up properly at the end. Many children came in great costumes and we laughed, played and celebrated together.

The 1B showed at this celebration: There is a little leader in every one of us! Together they put on a really nice party.

With momentum across the ice – 2b at the Vienna Ice Skating Club

Class 2b spent a lively and happy afternoon at the Vienna Ice Skating Club. All the children took to the ice with great enthusiasm and commitment. After a few cautious laps, the movements became more and more confident and the first races with the “seals” began. They laughed, cheered and raced with great ambition. Some children even tried out little figure skating tricks, showing courage and skill. It was particularly nice to see how everyone supported and motivated each other. The 2b will certainly remember this sporting excursion for a long time to come.

The world in motion – The 4B in the Hyperglobus of the University of Vienna

On February 11, 4B went on an excursion to the Hyperglobus at the University of Vienna. The representation of the airplanes that are constantly on the move around the world and much more was particularly exciting; a very successful project for young and old from the Institute of Geography and Regional Research
AG Kartographie und Geoinformation (KGI).
